The Doctrine
Argent Comics exists to redefine what comic books can be. Editions for collectors who want something beyond entertainment. Stories transformed into enduring artefacts.
Our path is built on extreme limitation, uncompromising craft, and production methods rarely seen in comics.
Thus, each title becomes an experiment in the extraordinary.
The Atelier
Everything we create is built by Aurelian Hands, our in-house production team, blending innovative techniques with time-honoured bookmaking skills to push the limits of print and binding.
For colour work, we use giclée printing, known for its archival quality, colour fidelity, and longevity. For black-and-white titles, we revive letterpress, whose tactile impression brings monochrome storytelling to life with depth and character.
Some ideas demand a new approach entirely. When developing our first giclée graphic novel, there was no suitable paper for our needs. We commissioned Hahnemühle to produce a custom version
of the silvery Photo Rag® Metallic exclusively for us. Nearly 8 km of it ensures a long future for Argent’s vision.
The Atomic Law
At Argent Comics, 47 copies is not a limitation—it’s a consequence.
The amount of hand work, specialised materials, and experimental processes make large runs impossible. From the beginning, we knew the editions would be small, somewhere around fifty copies.
The silvery paper naturally led us to silver.
The name “Argent” comes from argentum, the Latin word for silver, and silver’s atomic number is 47. Silver gave us the name. It gave us the number. It gave us the law.
The Formats
AVANT-GARDE EDITION
Our flagship format. The first giclée-printed comic editions ever produced. Printed on high-end custom-made metallic paper to offer an unparalleled experience of colour and depth. Every title appears in an Avant-Garde Edition.
NOIR EDITION
Reserved for titles whose artwork exists in monochrome. Printed entirely in letterpress for a tactile, expressive experience worthy of the name.
AVANT-GARDE EDITION PRINT SPECS.
The first ever attempt to create giclée printed graphic novel, utilising an archival pigment-based system. This process sprays millions of ink droplets onto our bespoke paper. It offers a vibrance and resolution impossible in traditional offset printing.
Application: All standard Argent titles.
NOIR EDITION PRINT SPECS.
A revival of the Gutenberg technique. It is a relief printing method where raised, inked surfaces are pressed into 100% cotton mould-made paper. The end result is a deep, tactile impression.
Application: Exclusive to monochromatic titles.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
All editions are engineered and hand-bound by our in-house team, Aurelian Hands, located in Croatia. We operate a closed workshop; however, archival footage is released periodically.
PRODUCTION WINDOW
We operate on a quality-dictated timeline. The project is finished when the standards of the edition are met. We prioritise the integrity of the work over calendar constraints, sharing detailed progress reports as the project evolves.
RIGHTS OF CONTINUITY
Successful acquisition grants a permanent numeral designation. This identifier remains reserved for your collection across future volumes, secured through unbroken patronage.

Argent Comics is an imprint of Pigment Collective, founded by Marko Matijašević in Zagreb, Croatia.
The collective is also home to Amaranthine Books, whose work includes embedding Transylvanian soil in Dracula and sending a monolith from their edition of 2001: A Space Odyssey into space with Blue Origin.
Aurelian Hands is our production atelier. Everything we create passes through their hands.
